- How to find your engine’s serial #?
The location of the engine serial number can vary depending on the brand and model of the engine. It’s usually stamped directly on the engine block, often on a flat surface, or on a label attached to the engine. For many diesel engines, you might find it on the side of the timing cover, on the top or side of the cylinder head, or near the injection pump.
Here are some general steps:
- Check the engine’s user manual if you have it. The manual will often provide specific instructions about where to find the engine serial number.
- Look for any flat surface on the engine block that might have a number stamped into it.
- Look for any metal tags or labels attached to the engine block.
- If you still can’t find the number, contact the manufacturer or an authorized dealer with details about your engine’s make and model.
Remember to write down the serial number once you’ve found it. It’s useful to keep it in a safe place for future reference.
